As we have already reported, Electronic Arts and motifs have announced as part of the “Crafting the Tension” developer-livestreams that Dead Space will be released on January 27, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | s and PC.

The remake of the science fiction survival horror classic is developed from scratch using the frostbite engine . The new edition remains loyal to the gripping vision of the original and offers improved sound and razor -sharp graphics, which has also been carefully revised to achieve a new level of immersion and quality.

“The development of this remake was a lot of fun with motifs because we are really big fans of the franchise and want to show the game the respect it deserves. We are also pleased about the reactions of the players: inside that we take on this development trip, ”says Phillippe Ducharme, Senior Producer from Dead Space. “We are making great progress on our way to the alpha phase and are happy to finally announce that the game will be released in January of next year. Dead Space puts the players into the role of Isaac Clarke, an ordinary engineer who is supposed to repair a gigantic mining ship on a routine emission that is to repair USG Ishimura. But a real nightmare awaits him on board the Ishimura: the ship crew was killed and infected. And Isaac’s girlfriend Nicole still has to be somewhere on board. Isaac is alone and sits in the trap. He only remains his technical tools and skills as an engineer with whom he fights for survival – not only against fearsome monsters, the so -called “necromorphs”, but also against his own mind.

As part of the live stream, the team of motifs also presented a first insight of how the new edition visually develops and improves the original: objects, tools, places and much more were revised and reconstructed in detail for the next hardware generation and PCs. Thanks to optimizations such as dynamic, volumetric lighting with atmospheric and environmental VFX that are rendered in Full-HDR, Dead Space offers players the opportunity to experience the scary narrow corridors and dark corridors of the USG Ishimura as realistic and inevitable.
