Two sustainability awards for the BVB
The internationally established “Global Sustainability Benchmark in Sports” based in London examines how sustainable clubs work. The independent non-profit organization analyzes the sustainability performance of large associations and associations based on a scientific approach and encourages professional sports organizations into more transparency and sustainable behavior.
GSBS now introduced initial results of over 40 organizations and unite and distinguished them with awards. The BVB secured the first place twice. In the category “Best Corporate Performance” and in the special category “Best Total Performance” Dortmund landed at the top. The Borussia prevailed, among other things, against clubs such as Juventus or Real Betis.
According to BVB, the analyzed areas of the association included financial sustainability, emissions, travel activities, female quota, transparency and human rights handling.
“We are proud and honored to receive these awards,” says Marieke Köhler, Team Leader Sustainability in the Corporate Responsibility Department at BVB and added: “The collective challenges that we are as a society can only be shared and by creating a strong network with equally strong partners. As well as all other nominated clubs, we also work daily to make our organization and the world better and more sustainably – step by step. “
While the clubs in the Bundesliga are already diverse and implementing the topic of sustainability, corresponding paragraphs in the licensing order of the DFL were previously completely. This will change in the future: For the season 2023/24 binding criteria should reach.
